Sam Lutfi Keeps Away from Britney Courthouse
Opting to not rock the boat, Britney Spears' erstwhile manager skipped a Wednesday court hearing pertaining to the temporary restraining order that requires him to keep at least 250 yards away from the pop princess. The order was subsequently extended until July 31 by Los Angeles Superior Court Commissioner Reva Goetz and officially approved this afternoon by Judge Aviva K. Bobb after Goetz, responding to a motion previously filed by Lutfi asking for a judge to oversee the case, recused herself from these proceedings.(View the court papers.)Goetz is still presiding over the conservatorship case involving the 26-year-old Toxic singer and is scheduled to hear issues regarding Spears' trust on Thursday.Attorneys for Jamie Spears, who has been appointed temporary coconservator of his daughter's estate until at least July 31, and Lutfi's legal camp also readily agreed to the terms. We believe this is in the best interest of Ms. Spears, Jamie's attorney, Vivian Thoreen, told the judge.Earlier Wednesday, Lutfi's spokesman, MIchael Sands, exclusively told E! News that Lutfi was willing to abide by the court's order. He just agreed to it,Sands said.Sam and the family are communicating and cooperating, trying to do what's best for Britney. Lutfi, once a frequent fixture in Britney's life, was not served with the initial order until Feb. 21, three weeks after Jamie and Lynne Spears moved to keep him away from their daughter after he helped arranged for her hospitalization at UCLA Medical Center. A federal judge immediately prolonged the order for another month, and when March 17 rolled around, Lutfi complacently agreed to another 30 days sans Spears. He respects Britney, he respects the temporary restraining order, and everyone is beating him up for no reason," Sands said last month.Enough is enough.
Britney Hits the Studio Just for Fun
Britney Spears has apparently decided her body wasn't the only thing in need of a little fine-tuning. E! News has confirmed that the Gimme More singer is taking voice lessons and has spent the last two days in a Burbank,Calif., recording studio to work on getting her voice back into fighting shape. Spears, whose 2008 didn't exactly get off on the right foot, careerwise, is not working on anything official, a source close to the 26-year-old comeback kid told E! News, but instead is just looking to enjoy herself right now. She's doing it just for fun,the source said. She's just sitting at the piano, singing a little. She's just in there to have some fun. It may lead to something down the road, but right now this is just part of her staying on the right track. Spears is also said to be spending time under the tutelage of voice coach Ron Anderson, who, according to his professional website, has worked with the likes of the Red Hot Chili Peppers' Anthony Kiedis, Chris Daughtry, Avril Lavigne, Bjrk, Paris Hilton, Paula Abdul, Pink, Shania Twain, Usher and Tori Amos, among others. Blackout, Spears' fifth studio album and her first in four years, was released in October and sold 290,000 copies its first week out of the gate to land at No. 2 on the Billboard 200, the first time one of her studio efforts didn't debut at No. 1.
Britney Spears To Appear In Court Today She wants more visitation rights to see her sons
Britney Spears is set to appear in court today to appeal for more time with her young sons. Toddlers Sean Preston and Jayden James currently stay with their father Kevin Federline after authorities gave him full custody following the pop wreck s erratic behaviour. Since holding the two tots hostage at her Los Angles home in January, her father Jamie Spears has been looking after his daughter and she seems to be doing much better. Having lost weight and ditched no-good friends Sam Lutfi and Adnan Ghalib, Britney and her lawyer will argue that she should be able to spend more time with her boys as a result of her progress. Do you think Britney is getting better? Should she receive more visitation rights. Be sure to leave your comments below.
Britney Spears Wins Small Battle In Custody Hearin
LATEST: Britney Spears has won a boost in her child custody battle following a hearing in Los Angeles on Tuesday morning. Sealed documents were reviewed in a closed court session, and though the existing custodial arrangement remains in place between the singer and her ex-husband Kevin Federline, both parties insist there has been progress. Spears custody rights were suspended in January after police and emergency services were called to the singer's home after she refused to hand over one of her sons to a Federline bodyguard following a visitation period. Ever since then Spears has been fighting to regain visitation. The arrangement was modified a month ago when Federline agreed his troubled ex could spend time with their sons again as long as the visits were properly supervised. And speaking outside court after Tuesday s hearing Federline s attorney Mark Vincent Kaplan called the court meeting a step going forward for both his client and Spears. He said The order that was in place has remained in place but there has been a graduated expansion of time. Kaplan was complimentary about Spears progress following her commitment to a psychiatric ward in February, and credited her father Jamie who has been given full control of his daughter's personal affairs, for adding stability to her life. Federline s attorney said What was a seemingly daily situation in extreme flux has been stabilized. As WENN went to press there were no fixed details as to how the custody deal would change. Following the hearing a statement from Spears' parents read We are so pleased with Britney's progress and we are very appreciative of the court s recognition of this progress. A progress hearing will be held on July 15 and another hearing will be held in August to review "how the modified custody arrangement has evolved.
